USA is number one in power produced from nuclear, Number one in Wind, and Number 3 in Solar.
reason number 3 in Solar. Look at the Solar map potential, and notice it can only help LA Metro area (one of the 4 largest populations) nothing for Chicago, Wash/Balt or NY.
Announced this week March 2010 the US is above
the low of Crude oil Production at 5.5 million barrels per day.
US has added 700,000 barrels a day.
BALTIMORE CANYON - Drilling off the East Coast for oil
Why? Only 5 wells had production but not commercial, out of 32 wells. The geology says not enough heat to convert the kerogens into Oil. All that will be found will be natural gas.

Drywall - The middle gypsum is used to spray into the flue of a coal fired electric generating plants to reduce sulfur, mercury, other metals and acid rain. This mix is then processed and made into the Drywall.

- Where does the push come from?
One group says humans are excessive, and 2 billion people live on 2$ a day or less.
One group says the climate is doomed. One group says we are running out
Going Green, Is it from the Top Down or Bottom Up or both?
Meaning Governments can push from the top down and each individual can have an affect from the bottom up.
Evident in my research all wind, solar and nuclear power are all increasing.
Individually humans can do their part. Simple things add up. Using less power in general by technology advancements. Examples:
Incandescent Bulb vs CFL 70% or greater savings.
Reuse / Recycle programs
Electric motors and compressors VS new ones that take half the energy or less.
The pickens plan was very good at data mining ideas from many. Natural Gas for cars/trucks is long way off due to delivery infrastructure. Same for electric. One reason is 1/3 of all house holds are rental properties without means for electric car plug in, same for once you get to work there is no where to plug in. Who is liable when a person gets electrocuted due to a faulty ground.
Number of US Gas Stations 120,000+ VS alternative stations 6,600. Infrastructure delivery issue.
Less Oil feed electric generation in favor of Natural gas.
Look into Bloom Energy Solid Oxide Fuel Cell powered by natural gas or bio mass gas.
Some large companies, Google, WalMart, Ebay etc are using 400 kw units now as a prototype.
